Sun Center Federal Credit Union has been around since 1976! In 1976 with the investment of a very small group of FAA Employees the Cleveland Center FAA Federal Credit Union opened its doors. Serving only FAA members at the time. The Oberlin Branch was the only Sun Center branch till 1994.
In the 1980s we expanded our field of membership to include select employee groups of local businesses. These select groups would come to the FAA grounds to use the credit union.
In 1994 our second branch opened in Wellington to better serve our members. LaGrange was opened and built in 1999. In 2004 the National Credit Union Association approved Cleveland Center FCU to become a community chartered credit union, allowing us to open our doors to the public.
Soon after the change we merged with the Greenline FCU, a credit union originating from St. Peter’s Church in North Ridgeville. We acquired our fifth, and final branch in South Amherst in 2006.
Our name officially became Sun Center Federal Credit Union in 2006. “We’re not just a bank, we help change people’s lives,” Brenda Hammond, CEO and employee of SCFCU for over 32 years.
